Food and Snacks
Snack times...
Snack times and meal times are always a key learning opportunity at Tidbury. A strong emphasis is placed on developing independence, social skills, table manners and learning the importance of healthy eating.
Children have a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack and drink. The children are introduced to a variety of healthy snacks to share with their friends. Typical snacks include cheese, humous, yoghurt, vegetable sticks, fruit, crackers, bread.
Personal development is outstanding: "Children develop high levels of independence. For example children serve themselves fruit and cereals at snack time and pour their own drinks." OFSTED Report 2024
Our snack is offered to children in a "free flow" style. This enables the children to build independence.
The children can decide for themselves if they are hungry; when they want or need their snack.
New or younger children are supported at snack time until they can pour their drink by themselves
and are confident with the "free flow" snack routine.
Drinks - Our Water Station...
We encourage the children to keep their bodies healthy by drinking water.
The children have access to water at all times to keep them hydrated.
Meal times...
A member of staff sits at each table, to support children and to create a warm and sociable atmosphere.
Parents may choose for their child to bring a packed lunch or to book a cooked meal.
Meals are provided by a local catering company. Their cooks provide us with a wonderful selection of meals.
They ensure a strong emphasis is placed on healthy methods of food preparation.
The children enjoy a variety of fresh steamed vegetables, and home made foods, all prepared daily.
